FEDERAL PELL GRANTS

Students who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) may qualify for government funding in the form of a need-based Federal Pell Grant.

Unlike loans, Pell Grants do not have to be repaid.

The amount a student is awarded depends on financial need, costs of attendance, full-time or part-time enrollment, and length of academic study.

William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program offers different types of Direct Loans:

DIRECT STAFFORD LOANS (BOTH SUBSIDIZED AND UNSUBSIDIZED)

Subsidized loans are awarded based on financial need.

The government pays the interest while a student is still enrolled in school.

Interest is only charged once repayment begins.

Unsubsidized loans accrue interest from the time of disbursement until the loan is paid in full.

A student’s financial need is not a determining factor in obtaining an unsubsidized loan.

DIRECT PLUS LOANS

Loans parents can obtain to help pay the cost of education for their dependent undergraduate children.

All students must complete the FAFSA in order to be eligible for any form of financial aid.
